Welcome to the home of Blackbird Theatre, Vancouver’s classic theatre company.
Blackbird Theatre proudly operated in Vancouver from 2004-2016. Sadly, in December of 2016 the company was folded due to a continuing lack of resources.
Our heartfelt thanks to the many generous donors and audience members who were so great a part of Blackbird’s financial capacity over Blackbird’s 12-year history. It is because of you that we were able to mount the calibre of productions we did, and reach the range of audiences we did. Although theatre is ephemeral, its impact is not, and we are proud that our productions continue to resonate with so many people.

A classic play is a great house in which many people may live. It is also a human fable that time does not invalidate. Blackbird draws its inspiration from the great playwrights of the ancient and modern worlds, and from the community in which we live. Our plays are chosen for the brilliance of their dramatic and comedic achievements and their relevance to contemporary life.
